Angus and I arrived in Tokyo, where we spent the first couple of nights at Taito Ryokan. A ryokan is a tradional-style Japanese inn that has tatami rooms and futons (rather than a Westen-style room with beds).

Top-end ryokans welcome you with traditional Japanese tea and serve gourmet meals in your room, but this was a laid-back hostel-vibe kinda place cause we are cheap.
